Preliminary investigation of big agricultural products wholesale markets in Shanghai

From July 12, 2017 to July 14, we investigated 11 big agricultural products wholesale markets preliminarily in Shanghai. The main purpose of this investigation is to survey the varieties of fruit and the price range in big wholesale markets.

 (Figure 1 was the roadmap and the name of 11 wholesale markets that we investigated.)

Due to the 11 wholesale markets are located in suburbs of Shanghai, and avoided rush hour, our marketing consultant Anita and I assembled in Louis’s home and then together. Before investigated, I take Louis’s advice arranged the route reasonable. We investigated 5 wholesale markets at the first day, 3 at the second day and 2 ant the third day. It can allow people to relax while they are working hard.

It’s very hot in mid-July. It’s lucky for us that Louis combined leader and driver. He drove his car and took us to the wholesale markets, it saved a lot of time for us. We surveyed the price of imported fruits and the sales status of imported fruits in Shanghai. During the tight survey, we also bought some fruits, we can not only know which fruit that sells well and the fruits also can be our lunch.

Except discussing the next location and the investigation purpose, Louis and Anita had a fun chat too when we were on the way to the next market. Their chat added relaxed atmosphere to the boring investigation.

There is 1 wholesale market mainly on fruits and it doesn’t wholesale other products (Like vegetables, bean products, sea food and so on.) There are 2 wholesale markets with large percentage of fruit wholesale and have lots of imported fruits. The rest 8 wholesale markets mainly on vegetable wholesale. We decided to choose a wholesale market with good decoration, more imported fruits and reasonable price (Compared with other 10 wholesale markets.) to survey again in the 3 wholesale markets that mainly on fruit wholesale.
